ASMS Five Year Reunion Weekend
It was a great weekend, and a great opportunity to meet the Class of 2000 Alabama School of Math and Science alumni. This time, I made a special effort to try and talk to those who I never really talked to in high school. Despite being in a selective, residential environment, high school still had its cliquish moments. But a lot has changed in five years. People have lightened up and matured. Relationships have come and gone. And the cliques have become irrelevant. Indeed, I really was surprised at how easy it was for me to get along and talk with everyone. And I know now that it’s the people, and not the place, that made ASMS the wonderful experience that it was.

I felt the same way about my reunion. I was hesitant at first, but time and maturity makes a huge difference. It’s a lot of fun looking back and even talking to people you missed out on back then.
ASMS hasn’t changed their webpage layout substantially since 1998. You’d think a school of science nerds would have a really awesome web presence.
Titus, maybe you could volunteer your services and hook them up with something nice…
ASMS students want to update the website, and a few have volunteered to help – but the admin/faculty in charge of the website are incredibly adamant/reluctant to let ASMS students even touch their own school site.
So, it’s not as if there aren’t willing ASMSers wanting to make the site more modern, nice, etc. – the school just doesn’t want them to act on their own initiative.
