Considering that Microsoft can’t even program Notepad without bugs, it’s no surprise that the rest of the Microsoft product line is as buggy as it is:
- Open up Notepad (not Wordpad, not Word or any other word processor)
- Type in this sentence exactly (without quotes): “this app can break”
- Save the file to your hard drive.
- Close Notepad
- Open the saved file by double clicking it.
Found on WinCustomize. It looks to be a UTF-16 bug of some sort, and there’s more information on it at Aftermarket Pipes.
I found that to be interesting. Apparently one of the Unicode functions determines if a file is Unicode using some fallible statistical analysis. And on that sentence it fails. Not in some other editors though.
This is the strangest thing I have ever seen with any program, I guess computers as we know them have finally figured out a way to hit the bong.
