Project Management and IPECC

The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) defines five processes in a project that compose the project management life cycle. They are:

  1. Initiation
  2. Planning
  3. Execution
  4. Control
  5. Closure

and can be mnemonically remembered as IPECC (”syrup of ipecac”). The five processes interact with one another and allow the project manager to gauge the success or failure of a project.
